Welcome to the East Central Iowa Autism Society.
We are glad you found us.

Currently the rate of autism is 1 in 88. We hear the rates are going up each year. We hear that services are hard to secure, that dollars for research and funding is too short. We spend our days wondering about our childrens health, education and future. Each day we deal with the unanswered questions, the meltdowns, the lack of sleep, and the worry. To most Americans, 1 in 88 is a number. To the families of a child with autism, our 1 in 88 has a face and a name.
Fellow mom Meg Oberreuter and I had the honor of being on the guest panel of the June 2nd episode of Ethical Perspective On The News. Lots of good ideas were shared about how to effectively support the autism community. If you enjoy seeing this topic discussed on a local level, please call KCRG and let them know!
